Workshop Maya M. Carroll

Maya M. Carroll – Instrumental Bodies

This workshop handles body, movement, time and space as internal and external latitudes through which dancers perceive their work and compose their actions. Following on from a class in which we tune and awaken our senses, we would work on specifying how we carry our physicality in our dancing; how we elaborate thought, vision and desire within real-time composition. Integrating skill and fluidity with in /outlook at vision and imagery, we will observe and rediscover our own interaction with vocabulary, timing and rhythm. These elements will grow from individual tuning to partnering, collaborative listening and group-work constellations. As an improvisation practice, the work follows our passions in the present moment, pursuing its many expressions through the scope of performance/ performative states. The workshop is aimed for movers and dancers who wish to research and expand their compositional practice.
