Lilo Stahl – Training in Improvisation
Improvisation – the art to evolve something out of nothing. Spontaneously moment-to-moment compositions develop in realtime, infused with profoundness as well as ease. Seemingly deadlocked situations may be used as a chance to reveal the unexpected. From the performer this requires physical technique, a high degree of presence, an uninhibited access to one‘s creative resources, a delight in playfulness as well as compositional experience. The training of physical and mental permeability refines the perception of here and now. The dancers become tangible and their scope of expression multiplies. Sensitive and quick responses to inner and outer impulses can be realized and transacted. A meshwork of bodies, dance, space and music is generated. In the improvisations the explored experiences can unfold and deepen in a structured or anarchic form.

Lilo Stahl bewegungs-art Freiburg – since 2006 co-management of state-approved full-time education at TIP – Schule für Tanz, Improvisation & Performance (School of Dance, Improvisation & Performance). She danced solo and ensemble pieces (87 – 91) in Anzu Furukawa’s international Company Dance Butter Tokio. Since the mid-nineties she abandoned herself to her love of improvisation – explores, dances and performs in international casts with dancers and musicians. Most recently she is a member of The Human Factory: next step is… with: Harald Kimmig, Geraldine Keller, Hideto Heshiki, Michael Schumacher, Michael Shapira.
